Maker Marco G. has taken the “pwnagotchi” idea and flipped it on its head, making a 3D-printed buddy who will warn you to suspicious exercise in your community: the Netagotchi.
“Netgotchi is pwnagotchi’s older brother, extra conscientious: as an alternative of pwning networks, it could defend yours,” Marco explains of his creation, which is impressed by the pwnagotchi — itself impressed by the traditional Tamagotchi digital pet, solely being “fed” by means of introduction to sniffable Wi-Fi networks. “Examined with nmap, [a] service scan [or] intense scan will set off the alert.”
The guts of the Netagotchi is the favored low-cost Espressif ESP8266 microcontroller, linked to an SSD1306-based OLED show. That is housed in a 3D-printed shell that turns the show into the Netagotchi’s “face” — whereas a USB cable across the again delivers energy.
Join the Netagotchi to your Wi-Fi community and it’ll scan the community itself, popping up an alert when it finds a tool it hasn’t beforehand noticed. What Marco describes as “rudimental [sic] ‘honeypot’ performance” extends its capabilities additional, triggering an alarm if the Netagotchi itself is scanned for uncovered companies.
The supply code for the Netagotchi has been printed to GitHub underneath the reciprocal GNU Common Public License 3; assembled items are in the stores on Etsy for €44.99 (round $49) excluding taxes and delivery.
